Who We Are

The Foundation for Aviation & Sustainable Tourism (FAST) is a non-profit research, training and advisory institution dedicated to advancing civil aviation and sustainable tourism through knowledge, policy engagement and industry collaboration. Established in 1992 and registered with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), FAST functions as a neutral, credible platform supporting balanced decision-making across aviation and tourism ecosystems. FAST operates at the intersection of government, industry, academia and international institutions, enabling dialogue, capacity building and evidence-based policy development.

Our Role as a Think Tank and Facilitator

Our Founder President - Dr. S.S. Sidhu (1929–2018)

Dr. S.S. Sidhu was a distinguished IAS officer with a remarkable career spanning five decades. He held a Master’s degree from the Delhi School of Economics and a Ph.D. from the University of Kanpur. He served the Government in several responsible positions, including Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. He made history by becoming the first Indian Secretary General of ICAO, strengthening ICAO’s global aviation cooperation programmes and addressing emerging aviation challenges. Dr. Sidhu was also appointed Governor of the states of Manipur and Goa, showcasing exemplary leadership and administrative acumen. As Founder President of FAST, Dr. Sidhu inspired the aviation and tourism sectors to emphasize a balance of growth, safety, and sustainability. Dr. Sidhu’s remarkable career and vision will continue to inspire professionals in the aviation and tourism sectors, reminding us of his dedication and visionary leadership.
